How safe are we really??

I think I'm going vegetarian

Just this morning I heard that 2 million pounds of pistachio nuts have been recalled for fear of Salmonella poisoning. It has got to the point where I can't eat anything anymore. This is the second item in a few weeks to be pulled off the shelves for fear of contamination (peanuts for those who don't remember). What has happened to the food industry? Every week it seems there is another scare over Salmonella or E Coli or God knows what else. Has the entire food industry grown complacent about basic sanitation procedures? Do people just not give a shit anymore? Are we going to all end up wearing contamination suits for fear of touching anything?

The irony is it doesn't just stop at food; the problem has spread into the hospitals as well. Cases of staph infections are on the rise and now MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus)is growing leaps and bounds and also the c diff bacterium (this is what my mother died of). Good God people let put an end to it. If we can eradicate small pox and other vicious diseases we can eradicate these as well or at least reduce them to isolated instances.

In God We Trust

I received an email from a friend that had a link to MSNBC asking people to vote if the inscription "In God We Trust" should be taken off our currency. Hell no!! This shouldn't even be an issue! This nation was formed on Christian principles and the majority of the population is Christian. I am sick and tied of watching this great nation go down the toilet because a minority of atheists don't like our ideals. To Bad!! If you don't like it get out. They say this is a free nation but is it really? It seems are freedoms are being taken away one by one. For Christ sake you can't even say Merry Christmas anymore it has to be Happy Holidays. God forbid there is a Christmas program on the television or a display out in public. Has our government forgot who comprises the majority of the people in this nation and who has the voting power or is it they just don't have any balls. I opt for the later. Thank God 87% of the people agree with no change. In God We Trust; You bet!

Sick and tired of the Killing

It has been a long time since I ranted so I picked this one to start again.

Are you sick and tied of the killing? It seems you can't pickup a paper, a magazine or other periodical, listen to the radio or TV and not hear about another senseless murder. Nine in Alabama, I think it was 6 in a German school, countless drive bys and yet the government wants to take away our handguns and put more gun control on. What sense does this make, the perpetrators will only get them from the black market; gun control will not stop that? I am not an advocate of violence, but maybe it's about time that the American people start arming themselves. Guns do not murder people, people murder people.

If nut cases are going to shoot at us than I say, shoot back. Blow their miserable asses away. People in the old west were not afraid to walk on the streets at night. It's time to arm our police to fight against this crap. If villains are going to carry assault rifles then our police should carry Uzis. If the criminals are packin Uzis then our police need Gatling guns. Nothing like a little puff the magic dragon to even the score. I am all for peace, but if peace takes a little of Teddie Roosevelts way of achieving it then go for it.

Good Kid gone bad.

On my last rant I went on about these constant killings. I have nothing but sadness for the loss of the 5 students at NIU and their families but I can't help but feel pity for the shooter. Why would I have pity you say? In short because I try to be a good Christian person; I'm no saint mind you. This week the shooter was cremated with no attendance, no service, nobody to mourn for him, nobody to love him and say good-bye. All the students had large services with thousands of mourners and damm well they should, but this poor guy had no one. Not even his father took the time to come up from Florida to pay his last respects. He was cremated and his ashes taken to an undisclosed location. Nobody to put flowers on his grave or brush off the head stone. Some would say this is what he deserves and maybe their right, but any true human must feel some sort of pity for this poor kid gone bad. I know I would never desert my children no matter what they had done. I will say a prayer for all the victims but most especially I will say a prayer this poor disturbed boy.

NIU School Killings

I am sick and tired of all these school killings that have come on since Columbine. What is wrong with these kids? I heard one comment on the news that these kids these days just can't take criticism or failure, but this murderer didn't fit that profile. A Graduate of NIU, on the Deans list, studying Sociology and peace, what the heck. Is it these violent games; are they living out the game in a fantasy world? These games go beyond violent; they are evil. Yes as a kid we watch movies like Spartacus, Ben Hur, John Wayne Butt kickers, and there was violence, but it wasn't evil. War is a fact of life; it is a horrible thing but it's not evil. War is people fighting for what they believe is right or protecting their way of life. The other possibility is terrorists are brainwashing our children. If you want to stop this you need to cut off the supply of weapons. Shutdown the black markets and Internet sale sites, prosecute the makers of these violent games. Daddyduck says get a grip society

Steroid Use

This is an excerpt sent to the Daily Herald on Roger Clemmens:

Is there anybody else out there that is sick and tired of these sport premadonnas. I say allow them all to use Steroids; let them all be super human. And who is congress to investigate; isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black. Other than a few standup politicians there all cheating crooks. Let the athletes stay in a drug induced metabolism highs; when there hearts, liver or other organs give out we'll just replace them, or when they are older and they don't have the metabolism high they will have to work all the harder to keep the flab off. Will we still love them; of course we will; as long as there are people stupid enough to watch them they'll keep paying them those outragious salaries (just like actors). if you really want to hurt them, send them back to the minors to learn what baseball was all about again.

When I decided to comment to the Daily Herald on this it brought up another rant idea on restrictions on planes that I think parallels this. Why restrict pen knifes on the planes; daddyduck says lets let the people arm themselves to the hilt. If someone pulls out a box cutter you pull out a Jim Bowie knife. This reminds me of Crocadile Dundee " Thats not a knife; Thats a knife" The parallism here is our way of handling things in the US is to punish the honest citizen. Your not stopping anything. Do you think you'll hurt the baseball player; Ha; they have made their millions what do they care. Daddyduck says start punishing the criminals and not the people. Who do you think pays for those congressional hearings.
